Preparing for radical change: Visioning the utility of the future
ENMAX Corporation is a wholly-owned subsidiary of The City of Calgary. It generates and distributes electricity, and sells electricity, natural gas and renewable energy products to residential and commercial customers.
Providing electricity to Albertans for over 100 years, and having already gone through electricity deregulation, the company needed to anticipate and prepare for a tsunami of change in its industry, including distributed generation, electric vehicles, and the smart grid.
Integral Strategy™ was used to facilitate a strategic foresight and visioning exercise with the company’s leadership and management team to develop a profile for the utility of the future called ‘Utility 2020.’
ENMAX identified emerging trends and futures and refined its business model to take advantage of emerging opportunities and create new lines of business.
