Don has over 25 years experience providing leadership in not for profit, public and faith based organizations. For over 15 years he has served as a senior consultant and facilitator supporting public and not for profit organizations in the area of organization development, public consultation and strategic planning.
Don also served for five years as Vice President, Organization Effectiveness for Bethany Care Society creating a new department, which brought together Quality Services, Organization Development and Strategic and Business Planning. He brings a systems perspective from his involvement in a number of governance roles within the Alberta health system.
Don has a gift for facilitation that creates safe spaces for diverse groups to engage in deep dialogue and engage in meaningful action. He has significant experience in leading public consultation processes for both the social sector and for environmental impact assessments. He has also been involved in a number of multi-stakeholder community initiatives. Don was first involved with ISN as project lead and co-facilitator for the Age Friendly Calgary project that brought together twenty-five stakeholders to create an Age Friendly strategy for the City of Calgary. He also served as co-facilitator for a community initiative to create a Dementia strategy for Calgary and area.
Don holds degrees in philosophy, social work, and theology and has also completed doctoral studies in the area of organizational change.
